Leatherwork

Lemellar

Lamellar Armour

This is a suit of Lamellar armour. It consists of leather pieces sewn together to make plates, these plates over lap to make a strong sheet of armour.

This type of armour takes a long time to construct and cut out the leather plates, but is seen throughout history.

Assassin's Creed Style Leather Bracer

The fore-arm section is triple layered for extra protection, the upper layer is made up of 5 leather plates overlying each other

The plates have been decorated with leather stamps (again by hand, no machine work here).

The bracer is double buckled for extra stability on the arm and the plates are secured with very durable rivets.
Belt Bag

Bag & Belt

The bag and belt were handmade. I use them at my reenactment events so they are as practical and as durable as possible, this is the case with everything I make.

The bag is made of leather that is very flexible, but still strong. The antler toggle acts to keep the flap closed.

The belt is a reconstruction of a 3rd century belt. I wear it at the top of my pelvis; this type of belt was suited for one person as the size cannot be ajusted easily. This is because there is only one rivet to top the strips that go through the bronze belt ring.

Basic Shoes

These are very simple shoes, with draw-string and antler toggle

Hand-guard

This leather and mail hand-guard was created to be used during reenactment fight sequences
