STONE AGE FAMILY FUN DAY

9th March 2013 (10am - 4pm)

A unique display of a life-size replica Stone Age deer hide hut, cooking equipment, Stone Age art work, hunting weapons/tools, a number of real ancient artefacts to see (plus lots in the Royston & District museum itself). There will be demonstrations and talks about flintknapping and a chance for some to have a go at flintknapping, friction fire-lighting  or using a bull-roarer.

    • Go inside the stone age hut
    • Learn about stone age cooking techniques
    • Make grain by using a Quern Stone

    • Learn about Tanning techniques

    • Make a noise with a Bull-Roarer
    • Try to make smoke and fire will sticks

    • Cave Painting
    • Make a Yucca Paint Brush & use stone age style paint
    • Make a stone age pot
    • Make string from plant leaves

    • See a flintknapping demonstration & have a go
    • Learn about flint tools

    • Make a mini Stonehenge
    • Stone stacking / balancing
