About

The Course

The day will begin with a 1 hour introductory talk to the site of Must Farm and the context of the beads in the Bronze Age. This introduction will look at materials, UK artefacts and manufacturing techniques from over 3,000 years ago. Participants will then spend the morning practising a variety of techniques to create a shale bead before moving onto working with jet and/or amber to create a replica of their own. In the afternoon there will also be an option to learn how to make prehistoric cordage from natural fibres if the participants wish to string their jewellery.

Attendee Information: Guidance will be on-hand at all times. Appropriate clothing must be worn for manual work (fully covered shoes and trousers, etc.). Attendees must be over 16.

Food & Drinks: Food and drinks can be purchased in the café at the museum, or you can bring your own packed lunch.
